A passkey provides a faster and more secure way to sign in to your Sykka account and verify your identity.
Unlike authenticator and verification codes, passkeys cannot be manually entered or shared. They are linked to Sykka and are designed to protect you against phishing and unauthorized access.
How to Set Up a Passkey
Open the Sykka app and go to Profile.
Select Security Settings.
Under Authentication Methods, select Passkey.
Tap Create New Passkey.
Complete the security verification if prompted.
Follow your device’s instructions to create and save the passkey.
Once your passkey has been created, you will return to the previous page and its status will appear as Active.
If You Cannot Create a Passkey
Make sure your device and operating system support passkeys.
Confirm that a screen lock is enabled on your device.
Make sure iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager is enabled, where applicable.
Update the Sykka app and your device to the latest available version.
If your device does not support passkeys, the Passkey option may appear as Not Available on This Device.
You can continue using another sign-in or verification method available for your account.
Security Reminder
Only create it on a personal device and with an Apple Account, Google Account, or credential manager that you trust.
Do not create or save a passkey on a shared or public device.
Where Is My Passkey Stored?
A passkey consists of a cryptographic key pair:
The private key is stored and protected by the device or credential manager you select when creating the passkey. It is not shared with Sykka.
Sykka stores the corresponding public key, which is used to verify that a sign-in or identity verification request was approved using your passkey. The public key cannot be used to recreate your private key.
Where your private key is stored depends on your device and credential manager:
On Apple devices, passkeys are usually saved to iCloud Keychain and may be synchronized across approved devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
On Android devices, passkeys are usually saved to Google Password Manager and may be synchronized across supported devices signed in to the same Google Account.
Depending on your device settings, you may also be able to save your passkey in another compatible credential manager.
If you change devices, sign in to the same Apple Account or Google Account and enable the credential manager where your passkey was saved. Availability on a new device may depend on your operating system, device settings, credential manager, and synchronization status.
