Why is My Sykka Card not Working at Online Checkout?

If your payment doesn't go through at checkout, one of the following is usually the reason.

Insufficient balance

Your available balance is lower than the amount being charged. Keep in mind that some merchants authorise slightly more than the displayed price to cover taxes, shipping or currency conversion, so top up with a small margin. A USD 0.50 fee applies to declines caused by insufficient balance.

Card limit reached

Every Sykka card has daily and monthly spending limits, and a maximum single-transaction amount. Check your remaining limits in the app under Card Settings. Limits reset automatically; if you need a higher limit, contact our support team.

Declined by the merchant

Some merchants or payment providers don't accept prepaid or virtual cards, or restrict cards issued outside their region. This is the merchant's decision, not ours — if the attempt doesn't show up in your Sykka transactions, contact the merchant to confirm whether they accept your card type.

Transaction type not supported

Sykka cards can’t be used for certain categories, including political contributions, religious or charitable donations, and card-based money transfers to another person or account. Transactions in these categories will be automatically declined.

Card details or verification

  • Double-check the card number, expiry date, CVV, and that the billing address matches the one on your Sykka account.

  • If the merchant requires 3-D Secure verification, make sure you complete the one-time code step — check your app notifications or SMS.

  • Confirm your card is active and not frozen in the app.

Still not working?

Take a screenshot of the error message and contact our support team via in-app chat. We'll check the exact decline reason and help you resolve it.
