Noticed a charge you don't recognise? Most unexpected charges have a simple explanation. Here are the most common ones, and what to do if something still doesn't look right.
Why you may see an unexpected charge
Declined transaction fee (USD 0.50) — Charged when a card transaction is declined because your account balance is too low. The declined transaction fee applies only when a payment is declined due to insufficient balance. It does not apply to payments declined for other reasons.
Small transaction fee (USD 0.20) — Charged on card transactions of USD 10 or less to help cover the fixed processing costs associated with each transaction.
Foreign transaction fees — May apply when you spend in a currency other than USD.
Subscription charges — Recurring payments for services you've signed up for. Check your subscriptions if you see a charge from a merchant you don't remember.
Where fee information is shown
We aim to be upfront about every fee.
Open the Transactions page in the Sykka app and select a transaction to view its details, including any applicable fees.
What to do if you've been charged incorrectly
If you think a fee was applied in error, or you didn't authorise a transaction:
Check your transaction history in the Sykka app and find the charge in question.
Contact our support teamthrough in-app chat with the date, amount, and description of the charge. We'll look into it and get back to you.
If the charge turns out to be a merchant error or an unauthorised transaction, We’ll guide you through submitting a dispute.
Still don't recognise the charge?
Contact the merchant first, as they can often confirm what the charge was for. For transactions you still believe are unauthorised or incorrect, contact Sykka Support to submit a dispute. Eligible disputes may proceed to a chargeback with the merchant.
See Transaction Disputes & Chargebacks for the information and supporting documents you may need.
